Leadership

Xaldon is led by its founder and CEO, Stefan Kopf, a software engineer and technology leader with more than two decades of experience in enterprise software, content management, and open standards.

Stefan Kopf

Stefan founded Xaldon in the early 2000s and has been responsible for the company's technical direction and product development ever since.

Over the years, he has developed a broad range of software products, from desktop applications and web technologies to enterprise content management platforms and integration frameworks.

His work includes the creation of xoservices, simpleecm, the OpenDMA standard, and the SPXP protocol.

Enterprise Content Management Expertise

Since the mid-2000s, Stefan has focused on enterprise content management and content integration technologies.

He has worked extensively with leading enterprise platforms including FileNet, Documentum, Alfresco, SharePoint, IBM Content Manager OnDemand, OnBase, OpenText products, and other repository systems.

This practical experience formed the foundation for OpenDMA and Xaldon's current focus on enterprise content integration for AI-driven systems.

Industry Leadership Experience

Following the acquisition of Xaldon's xoservices technology by Alfresco in 2013, Stefan joined Alfresco and held a variety of technical and leadership roles.

After Alfresco became part of Hyland in 2020, Stefan served as Architecture Leader for the combined Alfresco and Nuxeo business unit. In this role, he was responsible for architectural strategy across two of the industry's leading open-source Enterprise Content Management platforms and worked closely with product and engineering leadership to guide their long-term technical direction.

In 2023, he assumed responsibility for technology leadership of AI-related initiatives across Hyland's product portfolio, helping define how enterprise content platforms could leverage emerging large language models and AI technologies.

These experiences reinforced a conviction that the next generation of enterprise systems will depend on secure and governed access to enterprise content. This belief ultimately led to the revival of OpenDMA and Xaldon's renewed focus on enterprise content integration for AI-driven applications.

Open Standards and Innovation

Throughout his career, Stefan has been a strong advocate for open standards, interoperability, and sustainable software architectures.

OpenDMA was originally created to reduce dependency on proprietary ECM APIs and simplify integration across heterogeneous repository environments. This philosophy continues to guide Xaldon's product strategy today.

Beyond enterprise content management, Stefan also initiated the SPXP project, an open protocol for decentralized social networking that explored new approaches to interoperability between independent platforms.

Leading Xaldon's Next Chapter

Today, Stefan is focused on helping organizations unlock the value of enterprise content for modern AI applications.

By combining deep ECM expertise with modern AI integration patterns, he leads Xaldon's efforts to bridge the gap between established enterprise repositories and the next generation of intelligent systems.
